How to ask for reviews without being awkward
Simple scripts, timing and follow-up that get steady Google reviews from real customers, with no gimmicks or incentives.

Most customers are happy to leave a review. They just do not think of it unless someone asks at the right moment, in the right way.
Ask at the peak of satisfaction
The best moment is right after the customer says something positive: the leak is fixed, the car is back early, the haircut looks great. A week later the feeling has faded.
A script that works
"I'm really glad that worked out. Reviews help a small business like ours a lot. Would you mind if I texted you a link? It takes about thirty seconds."
Asking permission first makes the follow-up text welcome rather than spammy.
Make it one tap
Use the short review link from your Google Business Profile dashboard. Send it by text, not email; open rates are far higher.
Never buy or gate reviews
Offering discounts for reviews, or only asking customers you think are happy, breaks platform rules and can get reviews removed in bulk. Ask everyone and reply to everyone.
